I made my way into the lobby to be greeted by Pete, the AT&T security
guard. It was my birthday and I had a full day ahead of me.
Immediately I walked to the AT&T foundation, located on the first
floor, and met my mentor Debbie (and my dad). I was introduced to
everyone in the foundation, given all the handouts about the Job
Shadow program and sat down to hear my very first conference call.
Miami was setting up a new Job Shadow program and everyone was
finalizing details. The reason of my internship (more than to gain
experience) is to help AT&T expand and update the Job Shadow
initiative. Bringing high school aged children into the AT&T offices
to encourage children to graduate, Job Shadow teaches them to build
resumes, study hard and shows them really neat technology. During my
internship I will provide the view of a high schooler and hopefully
enhance the existing (and amazing!) program.
